Last night, John Andress was crowned as the winner of 2017 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $25,500 High Roller event, after him facing fierce competition of a large number of poker professionals.
The 2017 SHRPO High Roller Event took place on August 14th and 15th at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The event accumulated a players field of 117 entries, who accounted for boosting the guaranteed prize to $2,925,000.
At the end of the event’s first day, there were only 17 players remaining, with John Andress being on the direct money bubble. It took the 29-year-old American less than 24 hour to reach the winner’s position and hold the event’s trophy in his hands. Apart from being crowned as the tournament’s winner and getting the event’s trophy, Andress also got the lion’s share of the guaranteed prize pool, generating his best live cash so far. His monetary prize amounted to $801,450 and boosted his overall live earnings to a total of $1,786,023.
Despite he had been close to the bottom of the pack at the beginning of Day 2, at the time when the final table was formed, Andress was already in the middle of the list with remaining players. Two players – Mike Leah and Brandon Adams – had a considerable advantage in comparison to the rest of the players.
John Andress managed to keep his steady pace across the final table game, and eventually faced Mike Leah in the heads-up play after Brandon Adams got eliminated on the third place. At that time Leah got a massive chip lead over Andress, but the latter did not allow despair overtake him. He managed to pull himself together, quickly gaining strength over Leah to finally defeat him.
With four final tables running simultaneously, it was Andress who won the biggest cash portion of the day.
When commenting on his victory a bit later, John Andress praised his last two standing opponents, saying both Leah and Adams were serious opponents to deal with. The player also expressed his positive opinion of the tournament structure.
With John Andress emerging victorious from the latest edition of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $25,500 High Roller tournament taking home the event’s title and a cash prize of $801,450, it was Michael Leah who ended up as a runner-up, getting a guaranteed prize pool portion of $561,600. The third place in the ranking was taken by Brandon Adams, who scooped a consolation prize amounting to $351,000.
Chris Hunichen got fourth, followed by Tom Marchese. The sixth position in the ranking was occupied by Omar Zazay, while Chance Kornuth took the seventh place. Sam Panzica got eighth, and Matt Glantz remained on the ninth place among the players who were left around the final table of the High Roller event.
